A look into the band culture that brings life to Isla Vista. Three bands share their stories of their beginnings and their futures, along with stories of how live shows have brought the Isla Vista community closer in a time of separation.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

One of the most important qualities of a good band is the people involved. Lot 22 was formed from a simple Instagram post, and now, this nine-person band plays shows throughout Isla Vista once a week. "That one fateful post" was the beginning of a new journey for them all.

LIVE SHOWS ARE GOOD FOR THE SOUL

The Framers have played numerous shows in Isla Vista since forming in 2019. They've experienced pre-COVID audiences and are excited to share their hopes for performing live once again.

KEEPING JAZZ ALIVE

After Hours is a newer band in Isla Vista, and brings a fresh take on Jazz to the community. With Jazz being thought of as a genre going out of style, After Hours is embracing it and sharing their sound.
